In April 2014, digital nomad and entrepreneur Pieter Levels launched
GoFuckingDoIt.com - it's all part of his mission to build
12 startups in 12 months.
The startup targets those individuals that maybe can't quite muster up enough self motivation to achieve something (they think) would be really awesome to complete. Users place real money down in the system and nominate a referee that then vouches for them at the end of the goal period as to whether or not they have achieved the goal. If they don't then GoFuckingDoIt collects their revenue. Within the first seven days of the business going live over $10,000 of pledges were made.
In July one of their customers set the goal of giving up porn for 90 days. The goal check in day was October 1st - they failed. They also happen to have put down $1000 on betting they would get there. Levels just tweeted out this screenshot of the email that the user was sent.
