Since the Innovyz programme launched in 2012, more than 45 startups around the globe have graduated and collectively raised over $23 million in capital. Yesterday, it was announced that the accelerator's latest program will have both a new format and a new focus on high-growth health, fitness and medical related startups. Last year, Innovyz moved location to the Tonsley Innovation precinct and this is where the Innovyz Health & Wellness program, as its been named will be headquartered. Innovyz Chairman Philip Vafiadis said that the programme had been been revamped and expanded to nurture, guide and cultivate participants over a period of nine months, with the objective to match innovators with like-minded investors. "We have attracted a high calibre of international mentors who will guide our companies through the entire commercialisation process, arming them with the knowledge and tools they need to tackle local, national and international markets," Vafiadis said. “We are looking for innovations that have global potential to improve the lives a large number of people. It would be wonderful if the applicants had already established their companies and are trading, but it is not essential as we can help them build their team and their company at any stage." The programme encompasses hardware, software and services, and could include pharmaceuticals, procedures, clinical areas, medical devices, health software and other health related innovations. Innovyz plans a series of industry-specific programs to be launched throughout the year to support Advanced Manufacturing, Energy, Resources, Water Agri-Business and Applied Technology. Individuals, universities, existing companies, corporate spinouts and research centres are encouraged to contact Innovyz via www.innovyz.com to apply for the current Innovyz Health & Wellness programme, or to register interest in upcoming programmes for other industries.
