GiggedIn Australia’s only platform that combines both crowd funding and ticketing with a focus on the live music scene, announced yesterday a new partnership that sees it become part of the Social Family Group (SFG) stable. GiggedIn, a Bluechilli company, helps event organisers and artists make successful shows occur with a guaranteed amount of pre-sales by giving fans the power to pledge to buy tickets in order to support events and artists that they demand. The pledging function focuses on tapping into the passion and engagement that exists between fans and artists and has been successful in everything from crowdsourcing national tours to creating new opportunities for talented emerging artists. Startup Daily amongst other publications have likened GiggedIn  as being 'the Kickstarter for music events'. The new partnership with Social Family Group (SFG) is a brilliant leverage play for both companies. On the new partnership, GiggedIn founder & CEO Edwin Onggo says, “Social Family Group is a likeminded [company,] passionate about music as well as creating opportunities for the industry and doing things differently. We are thrilled [SFG] have decided to join our family and look forward to continually grow through the next phase with them”. SFG have a number of different services / companies within their portfolio. Social Family Records (their record label) represents artists such as Damien Leith, David Campbell, Christine Anu and Baby Animals. Jaden Social is the digital arm of the business, with a focus on connecting artists with brands. Then there is George Said Management, a tour management company within the portfolio. Adding GiggedIn to the mix essentially enables all these services to utilise the platform to put what they focus on into overdrive. CEO of SFG Jake Challenor said, “We are proud to partner with GiggedIn and believe they are [a] solution and a new much needed tool for the industry. We already have ideas for some  really exciting synergies and can’t wait to share more details soon”. Recent GiggedIn wins include successfully launching support slot campaigns for tours involving Red Jumpsuit Apparatus (US), Hawthorne Heights (US) as well as Aversions Crown (AU) and Molotov Solution (US).  The campaigns are currently live and give emerging Australian bands an opportunity to perform opening spots on the bill at each local show of these tours by having fans vote to determine who opens by pledging to buy tickets. In addition to this partnership news, GiggedIn also announced yesterday that Ed St John, the ex CEO of Warner Music, Managing Director of BMG and Chairman at ARIA will be joining the advisory board. On joining the Sydney based startup, St John said “The importance of engaging fans effectively through live shows has never been more pivotal in every artists career. Innovative platforms like GiggedIn take a demand led approach and put the power back in the hands of the fans. Where it should be”.
